The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Accra Polytechnic on Thursday, the 9th of June, 2016 at the Ghana Statistical Service Conference Hall in Accra.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed as both Institutions recognize the need to bridge the gap between practical knowledge and industry.
The Government Statistician, Dr. Philomena Nyarko speaking at the signing ceremony applauded Accra Polytechnic for making such a giant step in equipping students with skills for the competitive labor market.
She explained that, the collaboration between Accra Polytechnic and Ghana Statistical Service will curb the daunting challenge of mobilizing resources and the needed capacity to produce accurate, reliable and timely data to assist policy formulation, implementation and monitoring.
She hammered on the need to replenish the human resource base with qualified and competent researchers to upgrade accuracy.
The Chairman for the ceremony, Dr. Boeh Ocansey advised other Polytechnics to emulate the efforts of Accra Polytechnic in working closely with industries. This he believes will help in achieving the practical tools and experience the industry desires.
Rector of Accra Polytechnic, Prof. Sylvester Achio expressed gratitude to Ghana Statistical Service for sharing in its great vision and pledged to make good use of the collaboration to ensure an exponential output in the coming years.
