The Deputy Minister in Charge of Tertiary Education, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah has stated that he is much excited about the tremendous progress being made by Accra Polytechnic in the Education Sector especially as the institution prepares for convention to a Technical University. “The Premier Polytechnic is making a stripe for itself. I have no doubt that you are ready for the conversion”, he added.
Hon. Ablakwah made the statement during the official launching of Accra Polytechnic’s Research Journal dubbed “APT Journal of Multidisciplinary Research (APTJMR)” here in Accra at the institution’s auditorium.
According to the Deputy Minister, research journals are significant in our today’s world. “Journals are imperative they bring to light what is new in knowledge to better our lives” he said. He urged the Editorial Board to be proficient, unbiased and be more professional. He indicated that, President John Dramani Mahama remains committed to support Research in the country and Accra Polytechnic is no exception.
On his part, Rector of the Polytechnic Prof. Sylvester Achio indicted that, the introduction of this Multidisciplinary Research Journal is very important and timely especially as the institution prepares for convention to a Technical University.
He said, research and practical work has been the backbone of successes the Polytechnic has witnessed over the years, “we are now under more intense pressure to work harder in the research department and be able to publish our work thereby contributing to the development and solving of various challenges in the globe” he added.
Prof. Achio revealed that Management will equip the Research Directorate with befitting Research Centre to facilitate its work.
Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Divine Ayidzoe who is also the Ministry of Education Rep on the Polytechnic’s Council expressed his delight in chairing such a wonderful launch. “The Polytechnic is striving to bridge the gap between tertiary education and the industry, this has helped the Polytechnic students to gain employment right after school and even before they graduate”, he added.
Present at the Launch also were some other Council Members of the Accra Polytechnic Council, Registrar of the Polytechnic, Vice Rector of the Polytechnic and across section of the Polytechnic community.
